Suwama has picked up a win in the tournament back in 2008 and looks to do the same this year as he reigning Triple Crown champion. Suwama’s goal is to remain undefeated in the tournament and claim the big win on April 29th.■ Tako Omori: Omori’s main goal this year has been laid out as “stop Burning.” Omori has already fallen to defeat by the hands of Burning in the loss of the World Tag belts, but he aims to reclaim his loss and to keep Burning from further “gather strength” in All Japan. Of course Omori still aims to win the tournament and go after the TC once again as well.■ Seiya Sanada: This will mark Sanada’s fifth year of competing in the CC. He only has one goal this year “Just win.”■ Masayuki Kono: This marks the 4th year for Kono to be involved in the tournament. He aims to make this tournament a standout for himself and aims to face his mentor Funaki in the Finals on April 29th.■ Ryota Hama: This will be the 5th time Hama has competed in the Carnival. In the past, Hama has yet to leave with the best results in the end, but this year he seems to have a new found sense of momentum to carry him in the tournament. Hama stated that he looks forward to the matches with his fellow All Japan comrades in KAI, Sanada, and Kono. He wants to work hard to prove himself and aim to once again be called the Triple Crown champion.■ Go Shiozaki: This marks the debut for Shiozaki in the CC and he only aims to walk away with victory. He stated that he would like to face Akiyama in the finals and for Burning to carry the momentum throughout the Carnival.B BLOCK■ Maskatsu Funaki: This will mark the 3rd time that Funaki has competing in the CC. No one in the B Block has managed to win the CC in the past, but Funaki aims to proceed carefully and decisively in each of his bouts. Funaki seems to be working towards a match by match plan to make sure he advances to the finals. Funaki will have one of the heaviest schedules in the tournament as he is scheduled for a CC match back to back for the first 4 days.■ KENSO: This marks KENSO’s 3rd year in the tournament. KENSO will be up against Akiyama first thing and he seems to be only concerned with that match at this time. A win over Akiyama would do wonders in raising KENSO’s confidence as he aims for victory.■ KAI: This will be KAI’s first time competing in the CC and he aims to make an impact since his transition to become a Heavyweight class wrestler. KAI acknowledged that he might be a little smaller than everyone else, but he aims to fight with his full heart and soul to claim victory.■ Jun Akiyama: This year marks Akiyama’s 10th time for competing in the CC, and he aims to go to the Finals and once again get a shot at the Triple Crown. “Intense match, Please expect. I will do my best.”■ Akebono: This year will be the 2nd time for Akebono to compete in the CC, and he wants to do his best to try and go to the finals. ■ Joe Doering: This will be Doering’s 4th year competing in the CC. [All Japan News] All Japan Pro-Wrestling held a final press conference before tomorrow’s big Ryogoku show.Don Frye, Keiji Mutoh, Yoshihiro Takayama, and Masayuki Kono were on hand for the press event. As they will be a part of a special tag match on the second half of the show. This match is aimed to be a continuation of this years theme by showcasing the BASIC & DYNAMIC features that make up professional wrestling as a whole in All Japan. It took no time in the press conference for a provocation to happen between Don Frye and Yoshihiro Takayama, given their rivalry going back to a 2002 super fight in PRIDE.
Frye ended up removing his shirt and revealed, that even though he is 47 years old, he still looks as tough as ever.Mutoh himself, even stated that he feels the energy already and looks forward to tomorrow. Frye mentioned the fight from the classic match between The Funk Brothers and Baba & Tsuruta, and said that this upcoming match tomorrow will be better. Frye stated that he is looking to enact some revenge against Takayama for breaking his shoulder 11 years ago.Takayama did not walk out injury free himself following that fight against Frye in 2002 and he aims to reclaim that loss. He also mentioned that the referee should be prepared for the match and should just let whatever happens, happen. This will definitely be one of the biggest matches of Masayuki Kono’s career so far. He says that he aims to do his best and hopes that this will be the starting point for even better things to come. What will we see when these two battle tested veterans finally get their hands on one another in the All Japan ring? Could we indeed see a replay from 2002?In a bit of side news, Keiji Mutoh was also asked about the new owner of All Japan Pro-Wrestling, Nobuo Shiraishi, and the controversy surrounding his first press conference. The question was asked if Shiraishi’s proposed talent seclusion & MMA expansion would be going into effect, in which Mutoh said “no”.So take that for whatever that is worth, I guess we will see and know more about what is happening in the coming months. All Japan Pro-Wrestling “2013 Pro Wrestling LOVE in Ryogoku ~BASIC & DYNAMIC~”, 3/17/2013 [Sun] 17:00 @ Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo(1) Hiroshi Yamato & Hikaru Sato [Pancrase MISSION] vs. SUSHI & Andy Woo(2) Masanobu Fuchi & Osamu Nishimura vs. KENSO & Reid Flair~Message from Kenta Kobashi~(3) Asia Tag Championship Match: [91st Champions] Minoru Tanaka & Koji Kanemoto vs. [Challengers] Kotaro Suzuki & Atsushi Aoki~ first defense.(4) World Junior Heavyweight Championship Match: [35th Champion] Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. [Challenger] Kaz Hayashi~ first defense.(5) Akebono, Ryota Hama & Yasufumi Nakanoueno vs. Masahiro Chono, Joe Doering & Shuji Kondo~Intermission~(6) Special Tag Match: Keiji Mutoh & Don Frye vs. Yoshihiro Takayama & Masayuki Kono(7) KAI’s Return Special Single Match: Seiya Sanada vs. KAI(8) World Tag Championship Match: [64th Champions] “GET WILD” Takao Omori & Manabu Soya vs. [Challengers] “BURNING” Jun Akiyama & Go Shiozaki~ 3rd Defense.(9) Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship Match: [45th Champion] Masakatsu Funaki vs. [Challenger] Suwama~ 5th Defense. All Japan Event Cards for March & April 2013http://www.puroresuspirit.com/2013/02/25/all-japan-event-cards-for-march-april-2013/
