[AJPW News] All Japan Pro-Wrestling held a press conference today to announce upcoming matches for their shows in May.

First up, Kento Miyahara & Kotaro Suzuki have been named the contenders for the Asia Tag belts. The newly crowned champions in Shigehiro Irie & Keisuke Ishii, who won the belts on 4/29 against Akiyama & Kanemaru, has received multiple challenges by the All Japan front as the belts are now held by outsiders. All Japan Director Masanobu Fuchi took all the challengers into consideration and determined that Miyahara & Kotaro have yet to challenge for the belts and should provide an interest match-up.

The title match has been set for the May 16 show at Korakuen Hall.

Also announced for the show is Ultimo Dragon participating in a 3WAY match against his next two possible contenders for his World Junior belt.

All Japan Pro-Wrestling “2014 SUPER POWER SERIES”, 5/16/2014 [Fri] 19:00 @ Korakuen Hall in Tokyo
(-) World Junior Challenger Assessment 3WAY Match: Ultimo Dragon vs. Atsushi Aoki vs. Hikaru Sato

(-) Asia Tag Championship Match: [94th Champions] “Dream Team Futures” Shigehiro Irie & Keisuke Ishii vs. [Challengers] “Xceed” Kento Miyahara & Kotaro Suzuki
    ~ 1st title defense.

SUSHI’s next defense of the GAORA TV belt has officially be determined as well as Kotaro Suzuki will be getting the match that he has been demanding as of late on May 17 in Yokohama. Kotaro had asserted himself fairly early on in April to be SUSHI’s next challenger, but his challenge was never met with a definitive answer. Though with the upcoming tour the time was right for a match to be set. Kotaro aims to test SUSHI’s goal of raising the value of the belt, as right now he does not appear to be doing the best job of that. Kotaro aims to breath new life into the belt, while SUSHI looks to protect his reign.

All Japan Pro-Wrestling “2014 SUPER POWER SERIES”, 5/17/2014 [Sat] 17:00 @ Yokohama Radiant Hall in Kanagawa
(-) GAORA TV Championship Match: [3rd Champion] SUSHI vs. [Challenger] Kotaro Suzuki

Suwama closed the press conference by stating that he is looking for anyone to challenge Doering and himself for the World Tag belts. Though he further elaborated that he will not be accepting Takao Omori’s challenge as he is already the next contender for the Triple Crown belt. Also given the fact that they already beat the team of Omori and Akiyama back in February of this year. Other than that, Suwama is looking for a “strong challengers”. The field is completely open for any team to come forward.

[AJPW News] All Japan held a couple press conference before the final upcoming show of this year.

Xceed is looking forward to the move forward from the Strongest Tag League and head into the new year as their breakthrough. Go Shiozaki & Kento Miyahara made it to the finals of the tournament and will be looking to prove themselves further and get a chance at the World Tag belts. Kotaro and Aoki stated that they know something was lacking in their performance in the tag league, but they will surely prove themselves as the reigning Asia Tag champs.

All Japan also held the official signing for the World Junior Heavyweight belt between the champion Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Ultimo Dragon. as mentioned multiple times, this match has been anticipated for months now, ever since Dragon appeared in All Japan, and this match will be the last big singles confrontation for the promotion.
Ultimo Dragon who is carrying the original junior class belt, NWA International Jr., used in All Japan back in the early 1980’s. Ultimo has held championships in many different promotions as well from all over the world, but the AJPW belt is something that he has never yet held. Ultimo stated that “by all means, I want the belt”, as he seeks to be crowned a champion in AJPW for the first time in his career.
(Side note: The match “appears” to only be contested with the AJPW belt on the line. Even though they keep showing both belts.)

Jun Akiyama stated that he and Omori certainly have their attention set on challenging the World Tag Champions soon.
Suwama sent out a reply that he and Doering are ready at anytime to accept the rematch so they can claim revenge for the loss during the Strongest Tag League.

Akiyama… or I should be saying “Mr. Christmas” will be taking on SUSHI on the upcoming fan appreciation show on December 15, and an interesting addition has been made for the match in the form that the match will be contested under a one count fall rule. SUSHI requested for the change in the rule and Akiyama readily accepted the request. This definitely could put the favor on SUSHI’s side as his signature moves all involve capturing pin holds.

Then lastly, KENSO stated that he is coming for Kento Miyahara on the 15th and he is looking to unleash the full fury of DK. KENSO will be the lone man from his new group, but it appears he might have a trick up his sleeve to put the odd in his favor.

Below is the announced card in full.

All Japan Pro-Wrestling “Fan Appreciation Show”, 12/15/2013 [Sun] @ Korakuen Hall in Tokyo

    (3) Xceed vs. DK Tag Match: Kento Miyahara vs. KENSO
    (4) Pre-Christmas Special Single Match: Mr. Christmas (Jun Akiyama) vs. SUSHI
