[NOAH News] Pro Wrestling NOAH announced the next defenses for the GHC Heavyweight and GHC Tag titles. First up is KENTA defending the GHC Heavyweight belt against Toru Yano on June 2nd. Following his 2nd defense of this past weekend against Sugiura, no one actually came forward to him face to face. Though earlier in the night Toru Yano, following his team’s successful defense of the tag titles, actually made a call out that he wants a shot at the GHC singles belt.Well that brings us to a day later, and KENTA announced that he will take Yano up on his offer on the condition that him and Takayama get a tag title shot soon following. So it seems things have been set in place to happen in early June.KENTA and Takayama of course won the Global Tag League in April and earned themselves the right to challenge for the tag belts, and KENTA has stated that he wants to not only bring the tag belts home where they belong, but to also be called a double crown champion. KENTA aims to continue this new chapter in NOAH by doing his best show after show. Also following the shows this weekend, Takashi Sugiura has joined officially joined alongside KENTA and NO MERCY. There seemed to be a lot of respect between KENTA and Sugi following their fierce battle over the GHC and a partnership between the two was agreed upon in the ring right after the match. What this means for Sugiura and his ex-group in BRAVE is unknown, but the two groups will be facing off in the next tour later this month. It should also be noted that Sugiura is an officer in NOAH, and it should be interesting to see if anything comes in to play with his power within NOAH.Below are the announced title matches that will take place in June.NOAH “Southern Navig. 2013”, 6/2/2013 [Sun] 17:00 @ Hakata Starlanes(-) GHC Heavyweight Championship Match: [19th Champion] KENTA vs. [Challenger] Toru Yano (NJPW/CHAOS)~ 3rd title defense.NOAH “Southern Navig. 2013”, 6/8/2013 [Sat] 18:30 @ Nasci Hall Umeda in Osaka(-) GHC Tag Championship Match: [28th Champions] “CHAOS” Toru Yano & Takashi Iizuka (NJPW) vs. [Challengers] “NO MERCY” KENTA & Yoshihiro Takayama~ 2nd title defense. Also check out the link below to the see the update May cards to reflect SUWA’s absense and Sugiura joining NO MERCY.http://www.puroresuspirit.com/2013/05/02/noah-event-cards-for-may-june-2013/

[NOAH Update] During today’s NOAH show, Akira Taue announced that he would be retiring from active competition this December.Of course, I posted this news in the daily results on the website, but I noticed some other details that I thought should be shared.http://www.puroresuspirit.com/2013/05/12/results-for-may-12-2013/Apparently Taue aims to retire this December at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo. No official date nor time has been set, but where it will happen has indeed been determined.Taue aims to retire and dedicate himself fully as the acting President of Pro Wrestling NOAH, or in other words he wants to concentrate on the future of the promotion. It seems that Taue was going to announce his retirement sooner, but due to Takeshi Rikio’s announcement to retire in November of 2011 and the news that Kobashi was going to make the following year, Taue decided to hold off on his own announcement.Taue has competed in the ring only a few occasions in the last couple of years and he stated that it is the right time for him to make the formal announcement.Of course Kenta Kobashi just retired from professional wrestling a day ago, 5/11, and this makes 3 of the 4 “Corners of Heaven” officially done with wrestling as of the end of this year. I would say all 4, but Toshiaki Kawada has not formally announced a retirement of any kind. From what has gathered, Kawada has merely just taken some much needed time away to rest and run his own personal ramen shop.Though speaking of Kawada, if he were to indeed return? Could we seen a last return of the “Holy Demon Army”? Kawada is one of the few remaining figures in Taue’s career and it would definitely mark a huge moment if Kawada made his return, at least for this final show for Taue.

[Match of the Day - Kenta Kobashi Series] Here is the ninth match of this eleven match series, as we countdown to Kenta Kobashi’s official retirement on May 11th.

Kenta Kobashi vs. Jun Akiyama, GHC Heavyweight Championship Match, from July 10, 2004 at the Tokyo Dome.

This event would be NOAH’s first event ever at the Tokyo Dome and this would be an explosive match through and through. Akiyama was the leader of the new generation heading into this match and was eager to finally topple the established star in Kobashi in a high profile match.. and you cannot get any more high profile than at the Tokyo Dome.

These two have a very well documented past, Akiyama made his debut against Kobashi back in 1992 and has managed to beat his sempai in the past, most notably during NOAH’s debut show. That win would mark a huge win for Akiyama and signify that he was the leader of the new generation in NOAH. From 2000 to 2004, we would see Kobashi’s “Burning” faction against Akiyama’s “Sterness” faction back and forth much of the time. Akiyama, at this time, was already a former GHC Heavyweight Champion, the 2nd in history, following a big win over Misawa back in 2001, but now he was given a chance to show what he had against Kobashi in the biggest stage of them all.

Kobashi on the other hand was on the verge of making history with his reign as champion by already knocking off 8 other high profile wrestlers… from Tamon Honda, Masahiro Chono, Bison Smith, Yuji Nagata, Yoshihiro Takayama, and others. Of all the opponents that Kobashi would face in his reign this match against Akiyama would go down as one of the best, if not “the” best.

[Match of the Day - Kenta Kobashi Series] Here is the eight match of this eleven match series, as we countdown to Kenta Kobashi’s official retirement on May 11th.
    Kenta Kobashi vs. Mitsuharu Misawa
, GHC Heavyweight Championship Match, from March 1, 2003 at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo.

The ultimate rival showdown, through much of Kobashi’s career Misawa stood the victor much of the time. This time around it was on new soil with Pro Wrestling NOAH.

Kobashi had a rough time with injuries from 2000-2002 that would keep him from any real title reigns with the new promotion. Though 2003 would fair well for Kobashi and he would finally earn himself a title match against none other than his longtime rival in Misawa, more specifically following a tag match as he teamed with Taue to take on Misawa and Masahiro Chono.

This would be one of the last singles bout between the two, and this is a true must see match in Kobashi’s career. You might even say that this is definitively one of the best matches in NOAH’s history.

[NOAH News] KENTA, Genba Hirayanagi and Taiji Ishimori were apart of a press conference today to talk about their plans going forward as the reigning champions in NOAH.Ishimori is coming off of a successful defense against Atsushi Kotoge and his next defense has already been set as he will face Ricky Marvin on March 31.Marvin holds a victory over Ishimori following the  TORNEO LATINO AMERICANO DE LUCHA LIBRE that took place in February. Ishimori aims to reclaim that loss. Ishimori and Marvin have plenty of history over the years from roughly 11 years ago when they were both training/working in Toryumon. Ishimori has already laid out his goal in a previous conference by saying that he wants to claim the honor of having the most defenses with the GHC Jr. belt.During the conference it was mentioned if Ishimori would plan on holding a defense for the belt in North East part of Japan, it is 2 years today when the major earthquake occured, and it seems it could be a possibility during NOAH’s “Northern Navigation” tour in May.KENTA and Genba were on hand for the 2nd part of the press event. KENTA successfully defended the GHC Heavy belt against Maybach Taniguchi and Genba & Maybach Jr. managed to claim the GHC Jr. Tag belts against Los Mexitosos.KENTA said that it feels good to claim his first defense with the belt and that he hopes to defend the belt on May 11 during Kenta Kobashi’s retirement show at Budokan Hall. It would be nothing more than honor for KENTA to defend the belt in Kobashi’s honor. (As of right now the rumor is that KENTA will face Marufuji, but it is nothing more than a rumor.)KENTA’s next goal is to dominate the upcoming GLOBAL TAG LEAGUE, which is set to begin on April 13. KENTA will be teaming with Takayama and he stated that he wants to further carve the NO MERCY name along with him. With NO MERCY (NMC) now holding more power within NOAH, KENTA’s stated that the next step is to enact a “regime change”, or a true change of power. KENTA requested that if NO MERCY wins the GLOBAL TAG LEAGUE that all matchmaking rights be transferred to NMC.It seems that KENTA is still dissatisfied with how things are still being run ad a much needed change is still needed.Genba Hirayanagi expressed a title show against Taiji Ishimori, but from the show yesterday Ishimori has made it known that he wants a title shot for the GHC Jr. Tag belts. Ishimori already has a title match set for this month, but it may be possible to see a Jr. Tag title match next month during the GTL. Nothing has been set at this time. Right now there is a battle between BRAVE (Marufuji/Sugiura) and CHAOS (Yano/Iizuka) over the tag belts. Maru & Sugi have already stated that they want a rematch for the GHC Heavy tag belts following the controversial match which saw Yano & Iizuka walk out the champions. KENTA as well has issues with CHAOS following the turn of Maybach Taniguchi against him, with KENTA looking to return the belts that were taken away. He got his revenge over Maybach with his successful defense, but now it is time for him to go after Yano & Iizuka for creating the hostile environment over the last month.GLOBAL TAG LEAGUE 2013 announcementhttp://keepingthespiritalive.tumblr.com/post/45042771390/noah-news-pro-wrestling-noah-announced-the-teamsNOAH Event Cards for March & April 2013http://www.puroresuspirit.com/2013/02/25/noah-event-cards-for-march-april-2013/Pro Wrestling NOAH “Spring Navig. 2013”, 3/31/2013 [Sun] 18:30 @ Korakuen Hall in Tokyo() “VooDoo MURDERS” Kento Miyahara & Taishi Takizawa vs. Shane Haste & Bruiser Barry() BRAVE vs TMDK Tag Match: Takeshi Morishima & Mohammed Yone vs. Mikey Nicholls & Jonah Rock() BRAVE vs DIAMOND RING 6 Man Tag Match: Naomichi Marufuji, Takashi Sugiura & Yoshinari Ogawa vs. Kensuke Sasaki, Katsuhiko Nakajima & Satoshi Kajiwara() Maybach Taniguchi vs. Maybach Taniguchi Jr.() GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship Match: [26th Champion] Taiji Ishimori vs. [Challenger] Ricky Marvin~ 2nd Defense.() NO MERCY vs CHAOS 6 Man Tag Match: KENTA, Yoshihiro Takayama & Genba Hirayanagi vs. Toru Yano, Takashi Iizuka & Yujiro Takahashi

[DIAMOND RING/VooDoo MURDERS/NOAH News] Katsuhiko Nakajima announced that he will be bringing in Yutaka Yoshie to team up with him and Kajiwara to take on the VooDoo MURDERS on March 17.Since size and height is a factor in the up coming match, Nakajima has taken it upon himself to find someone who can back up their height with the large size and that man is Yoshie. All 3 members of the VooDoo MURDERS they are facing are all over 180cm (Kento 186cm/97kg, Taishi 190cm/95kg & TARU 185cm/100kg) which completely beats the 175cm/97kg of Nakajima and the 170cm/83kg of Kajiwara. So the 180cm/150kg frame of Yutaka Yoshie is what Katsukaji (Katsuhiko & Kajiwara) are hoping will be bring the extra power that they need. The whole event card for the 3.17 show has been announced which you can see below.DIAMOND RING, 3/17/2013 [Sun] 13:00 @  Tatebayashi City Citizens Gymnasium in Gunma (Gohara Gymnasium)(1) Opening Tag Match: ~Participants~ Namazu Man, Kikutato [Akiba], CHANGO [Free] & KAMIKAZE [ZERO1]~ Teams to be decided the day off event.(2) Mitsuhiro Kitamiya vs. Kengo [VooDoo MURDERS](3) Tatsuhito Takaiwa [Free] & Ryuji Hijikata [Free] vs. Kenichiro Arai [DG] & K-ness. [NOAH News] Pro Wrestling NOAH announced the full match card for the upcoming big show at Yokohama on March 10.Following the announcements from the past couple weeks of all the GHC titles being on the line, NOAH announced a few matches to fill out the first half of the show. The rookies will open the show with DR’s Mitsuhiro Kitamiya taking on NOAH’s Hitoshi Kumano. The VooDoo MURDERS will be making their way from DR to NOAH as the latest memebers in DR’s Kento Miyahara and K-DOJO’s Taishi Takizawa have been announced to be on the show as they take on the The Bravado Brothers.DR’s Kensuke Sasaki and Katsuhiko Nakajima will be taking on the team of Akitoshi Saito & Masao Inoue. Nakajima and Saito have built a bit of a rivalry in the last few years and I wouldn’t put it past of them two getting into a kicking war before all is said and done. The now 3 man team of The Mighty Don’t Kneel will be coming together to take on BRAVE’s Takeshi Morishima, Mohammed Yone & Yoshinari Ogawa. The TMDK trio will surely be looking to make a statement on the big show.NOAH also announced matches for some of their other events scheduled throughout the month of March.http://www.puroresuspirit.com/2013/02/25/noah-event-cards-for-march-april-2013/Below is the full card that has been announced for the show.No official match order has been determined at this time.

[NOAH News] Pro Wrestling NOAH announced the full match card for the upcoming big show at Yokohama on March 10.
Following the announcements from the past couple weeks of all the GHC titles being on the line, NOAH announced a few matches to fill out the first half of the show.

The rookies will open the show with DR’s Mitsuhiro Kitamiya taking on NOAH’s Hitoshi Kumano. The VooDoo MURDERS will be making their way from DR to NOAH as the latest memebers in DR’s Kento Miyahara and K-DOJO’s Taishi Takizawa have been announced to be on the show as they take on the The Bravado Brothers.
DR’s Kensuke Sasaki and Katsuhiko Nakajima will be taking on the team of Akitoshi Saito & Masao Inoue.
The TMDK trio will surely be looking to make a statement on the big show.

NOAH also announced matches for some of their other events scheduled throughout the month of March.

[NOAH News] Pro Wrestling NOAH announced another match for the upcoming “GREAT VOYAGE 2012 in RYOGOKU vol.2” on December 9th which will see a special 6 man tag match pitting NOAH vs. All Japan. Along with this announcement was that Yoshinari Ogawa will be officially returning to the ring in December, more specifically on December 4th.Ogawa has been sidelined since November 14, 2011 following a big head drop from Bison Smith’s Bisontenniel maneuver. Ogawa says that he has finally built himself back up to once again be in the right form to compete and that he hopes he can do his best. The match will see Jun Akiyama teaming with Yoshinari Ogawa and his protege Atsushi Aoki as they take on Taiyo Kea, Akebono and Kaz Hayashi from All Japan. An interesting fact is that Ogawa and Akebono have previously faced one another, in tag match form, back during the WRESTLE-1 GP 2005, which saw Ogawa’s partner Misawa defeat the former Yokozuna. Of course Akiyama and Kea have recent history over the Triple Crown Championship. Then Aoki is ever looking to bring the GHC Jr. belt back home to NOAH, and a win over Hayashi could give him a chance to become a contender once again against Shuji Kondo.Below is the updated event card.NOAH “GREAT VOYAGE 2012 in RYOGOKU vol.2”, 12/9/2012 [Sun] 15:00 @ Ryogoku Kokugikan in TokyoNewly Announced: (-) NOAH vs. AJPW Special 6 Man Tag Match: Jun Akiyama, Yoshinari Ogawa & Atsushi Aoki vs. Taiyo Kea, Akebono & Kaz HayashiPreviously Announced:(-) GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Championship Match: [16th Champions] “Los Mexitosos” Super Crazy & Ricky Marvin vs. [Challengers] “NO MERCY” Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Genba Hirayanagi~ 3rd Defense.(-) GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship Match: [25th Champion] Shuji Kondo vs. [Challenger] Kotaro Suzuki~ 2nd Defense.(-) GHC Tag Championship Match: [26th Champions] Go Shiozaki & Akitoshi Saito vs. [Challengers] Naomichi Marufuji & Takashi Sugiura~ 1st Defense.(-) GHC Heavyweight Championship Match: [18th Champion] Takeshi Morishima vs. [Challenger] Satoshi Kojima~ 8th Defense.
