[All Japan News] All Japan held a press conference today to hold the signing for the upcoming GAORA TV Championship match between Sanada and Kono, as well as, the announcement that Shuji Kondo will officially be joining LAST REVOLUTION (L/R).
Seiya Sanada will be defending his GAORA TV Championship against Masayuki Kono on March 10 at Korakuen Hall. Kono has managed to get under Sanada who said that “he doubts his role as champion for the first time” heading into the match. During the scheduled match against Kono on 2.23, Sanada finally had enough and ended up losing the scheduled tag bout due to disqualification. He regrets his action, but the anger towards Kono is still there. Of course it was pushed on by Kono who found it upon himself to attack Sanada repeatedly backstage before that confrontation on 2.23.
Masayuki Kono aims to bring yet another belt to STACK OF ARMS, with Funaki as the Triple Crown Champion and Junior Stars as the Asia Tag Champs. Kono has been showing a new ferocity and determination heading into this match and if Sanada has really lost his edge then we might be seeing a new champion crowned.

Masahiro Chono and Suwama were on hand for the announcement of Shuji Kondo officially joining a long with them in LAST REVOLUTION. Of course this comes following Kaz Hayashi stating that he will not join the group, which made to believe that his tag partner in “Team 246”, Shuji Kondo, was with Hayashi. Kondo announced that “Team 246” has been abolished with his joining of L/R.
Suwama though said that the invitation still stands for Hayashi to join up with them.
LAST REVOLUTION aims be the symbol of strength in All Japan Pro-Wrestling as they plan to take on Burning head on.
Masahiro Chono, All Japan’s advisor, then spoke about the news of the new owners and said that All Japan is in need of a reform. The foundation of the promotion has definitely weakened, but he believes that L/R is the sign of things moving forward for the better.
Chono then announced some more matches for the upcoming big show on 3.17. Including his involvement as he tags with Doering & Kondo to take on the team of Akebono, Hama & Nakanoeuno.

It is Monday again, so time to look back at the biggest stories from this weekends shows, primarily from the two big shows from All Japan and New Japan on October 21st.
———————————————————————————————————————-
[All Japan]
All Japan held the close of their 40th Anniversary Tour on October 21st, and with that some champions remained strong, new champions were crowned, and new allies and or feuds have been set.
Masakatsu Funaki successfully defended his Triple Crown Championship against Takao Omori in a match that went for 6:33 in length. Funaki has really turned the standard for how long a title match should go far by quickly aiming for the win early on his matches. Funaki went for almost 30 mins. against Suwama, but both Akiyama and Omori met defeat quick defeats. Funaki has said that he aims to be a strong and fighting champion and he is surely bringing the fight.
Next up for Funaki will be the other member of GET WILD in Manabu Soya. Manabu picked up the win over Funaki’s STACK OF ARMS’ (SOA) teammate in Masayuki Kono, and subsequently made the challenge to the reigning champion after his defense.
Funaki though made a stipulation back at Manabu, that if Manabu loses this upcoming title match (no date announced as of yet) that him and Omori will be forced to disband GET WILD. That is definitely putting a lot more pressure on Manabu Soya, as they are also reigning World Tag Champions. If they are forced to split that means they will also lose the belts. GET WILD will be a apart of the 2012 World’s Strongest Tag League which begins on November 17, so it will be interesting to see if the champions can stand tall in that tournament or how things might change in the coming months.
An update to me writing this, the title match has been set to take place on December 11.

Speaking of the upcoming Tag League we already have out first team announced, well second if you count Akebono saying he would be in as well, as Suwama and Joe Doering have apparently come together as a tag team. After this last month, it seemed that Suwama and Doering had nothing more than animosity for one another, but after this Sunday’s show it seems they have come to respect one another. After a Double Ring Out and a restart of their match that led into a double KO, the two shook hands and left the arena area together. This makes them a very strong combination going into the Tag League and quite possibly the early favorites.
An update to me writing this is the teams have been announced for the World’s Strongest Tag League 2012.

Junior Stars have finally laid claimed to a championship again as they defeated Tumeric Storm, for the vacant titles, to become the 89th All Asia Tag Team Champions. Minoru & Kanemoto rekindle their tag team in early 2011 and have been working together practically ever since. Their win comes in time of Kanemoto’s 46th Birthday which he celebrates on October 31. Minoru Tanaka will turn the big 4-0 on November 29.
Seiya Sanada once again picked up the win over Yasufumi Nakanoueno for his first defense with the GAORA TV Championship. Sanada didn’t have much of time to celebrate as Kazushi Miyamoto made the call out to the champion for the next defense. No time has been announced for when the title will be defended once again, but Miyamoto is looking forward to beating the crap out of Sanada.
Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Atsushi Aoki made an apparence for All Japan’s show and attacked both Shuji Kondo and Hiroshi Yamato after their scheduled tag match. Aoki is the current top contender for the GHC Jr. belt which is currently held by Shuji Kondo. Aoki said that Kondo’s reign will be a short when they meet on November 3 at Korakuen Hall.
Shuji Kondo & Hiroshi Yamato have stated previously that they aim to claim the GHC Jr. Tag belts as well, but Kondo will have to defend his belt against Aoki first and foremost.
Check out the results listing to see what else went down on Sunday.

[New Japan]
New Japan held their opening show of the new tour on Sunday and there was definitely some news worthy happenings leading into the POWER STRUGGLE PPV on November 11.
Of course the main arc being build around this tour is the IWGP Heavyweight Championship is set to be defended by Hiroshi Tanahashi against Yujiro Takahashi.
Yujiro has really came into his own as of late with a Mr. R Rated, aka Tokyo Pimp aka Complete Playboy, yes the dude has a few new nicknames but the Rated R seems to be the main one to attribute to him. On Sunday during the scheduled 6 Man Tag Match, Yujiro once again picked up the pinfall over Tanahashi with the Deadlift German Suplex and continued to stake his claim to the IWGP title.
Yujiro has become the man of the mic as of late as well with trying the psychological game as well of getting under Tanahashi’s skin. As he even had to make a crack at Tanahashi’s “fake” blonde hair. It seems that something is working in the favor of Yujiro, but will his so called luck eventually run out?
Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Satoshi Kojima are aiming to win back their IWGP Tag belts which they lost to “Killer Elite Squad” on 10/8. This would be the first match for the new champions to compete with TenKoji looking to turn things around in their favor. Though sadly that did not happen, as Minoru Suzuki got the win of the night over Yuji Nagata in the 6 Man Tag. Suzuki-gun continued the attack on Nagata after the match and showed their dominance in the ring.
New Japan also kicked off the start of the “Super Jr. Tag Tournament” on 10/21, which is set as a single elimination tournament.
The reigning IWGP Jr. Tag Champions “FOREVER HOOLIGANS” Rocky Romero and Alex Koslov defeated Jushin Thunder Liger & Tiger Mask IV to move on the next round, TAKA Michinoku & Taichi picked up the win over BUSHI & CMLL’s Negro Casas, “TIME SLITTERS” KUSHIDA & Alex Shelley picked up the victory over the veteran team of Gedo & Jado. Then lastly “Apollo 55” Prince Devitt & Ryusuke Taguchi beat the team of Low Ki and Brian Kendrick.
The 4 winning teams will move on to the Finals that are set for November 2 with the matches being set as follows:
1. KUSHIDA & Shelley vs. TAKA Michinoku & Taichi
2. Devitt & Taguchi vs. Romero & Koslov
Prince Devitt confronted Kota Ibushi, who was on commentary for the event. Devitt and Ibushi have a pretty historic past, but Devitt is still looking to get his singles match against Ibushi since September of 2011 when Ibushi was forced to vacate the Jr. belt due to injury.

All Japan also held a press conference to rap up Sundays show as well as lead into the the final months of 2012.
First up is the announcement that Koji Kanemoto has officially become a member of STACK OF ARMS (SOA).
This has been expected for quite some time now as the history of himself with Minoru Tanaka and the fact that he has been competing along with the members of this faction for most of this year. Though with the All Asia Tag Championship win it was seen to be only fitting that he would finally become a member of the SOA.
All 4 members of SOA will be competing in the World’s Strongest Tag League which is set to begin on November 17.
Speaking of the All Asia Tag Champions they officially appointed their first challengers in “Team 246” Kaz Hayashi & Shuji Kondo. Minoru & Kanemoto stated that they want to have a high quality match to kick off their reign as champions, and nothing better than to go after the other veteran junior team of All Japan.
No date for the title match has been set, but it could very well take place on December 11, after the Tag League is finished.
Next up, All Japan held a press conference for the upcoming title matches that were previously announced earlier that day.
The first being Hiroshi Yamato defending the World Junior belt against Kaz Hayashi.
Yamato right off the bat seems to be taking his recent title wins go to his head, and being that this is his first title reign that is somewhat expected. Yamato is calling himself “The Symbol of All Japan Pro-Wrestling Juniors”. Yamato is aiming to build a new era as the Junior Champion. Kaz Hayashi being a former champion on multiple occasions himself has took notice to the way Yamato has been acting as of late. The way he was dressed just for the press event was even a bit on the odd side of things. Hayashi said he will be coming to reclaim that very title belt.
Then the last part of the press conference saw the meeting between Maskatsu Funaki and Manabu Soya, as Funaki defends the Triple Crown belts against Manabu on December 11.
Manabu picked up the win over Funaki’s SOA teammate in Masayuki Kono, and subsequently made the challenge to the reigning champion after his defense against Omori on October 21st.
If they are forced to split that means they will also lose the belts
Manabu officially agreed to these terms at the press conference and the title match has been set to happen in December. Manabu has nothing but revenge on his mind as he faces off against Funaki as he wants to defend the loss against Omori and prove that GET WILD is a strong team in All Japan.
Funaki also stated that he wants a shot at the World Tag belts as well, but at this point in time the upcoming Tag League will be deciding who will be the next challengers.
Manabu stated that it is his time to prove that he is ready for the huge challenge set before him.
[All Japan News (part 2)] Following the show this last Sunday (10/21), AJP has announced two upcoming title matches to take place before the year is up.
The first is scheduled to take place on November 17, during the opening of the Tag League, as Hiroshi Yamato will be defending the World Junior belt against Kaz Hayashi.

(-) World Junior Heavy Championship Match: [33rd Champion] Hiroshi Yamato vs. [Challenger] Kaz Hayashi
~ 4th Title Defense.
Then on December 11, Masakatsu Funaki will be defending the Triple Crown Championship against the other member of “GET WILD” in Manabu Soya. This will be the final defense for the Triple Crown until the new year.
All Japan Pro-Wrestling “40th ANNIVERSARY FINAL TOUR ~ Tour Final”, 12/11/2012 [Tue] 18:30 @ Nagano White Ring
(-) Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship Match: [45th Champion] Masakatsu Funaki vs. [Challenger] Manabu Soya
~ 3rd Title Defense.
[All Japan News] AJP released some updates for the 40th ANNIVERSARY TOUR which starts on October 7 and runs to October 21.
Among the matches announced is the inclusion of Scott Norton who announced over the past weekend that he would be making his return to compete in Japan.
If you followed the results of this weekends results then you know that Maskatsu Funaki retained after a 27+ minute match against Suwama. Taka Omori asserted himself as the next challenger and the match is set to take place on October 21.
The finals of the All Asia Tag Decision Tournament will also Oct. 21 as Koji Kanemoto & Minoru Tanaka take on Tomoaki Honma & Kazushi Miyamoto.
The to answer my own question for what is next for Joe Doering? Well it seems that he may be making a push to singles competitor once more as he will be taking on Suwama on 10/21. In the past few months Doering has went from tag team champion with Seiya Sanada to biggest lose cannons in Japan today. Could Joe’s new anger streak prove to be the key to success as a singles competitor?
Before the big show on 10/21, All Japan will be kicking off the 40th ANNIVERSARY TOUR on 10/7 with some lead up matches as well as crowning the first ever GAORA TV Champion. Seiya Sanada, Tomoaki Honma, Yasufumi Nakanoueno and Kazushi Miyamoto will compete in the semi-finals and then the finals of the tournament later on in the night.
Scott Norton makes his return to Japan on 10/7 as he teams with Keiji Mutoh to take on Taiyo Kea and Masanobu Fuchi.
Masakatsu Funaki and Takao Omori will meet in a Triple Crown prelude match.
Then lastly, Suwama and Joe Doering will face off in a 6 man tag before their scheduled singles match as well.
Below are the matches that have been announced for both the 10/7 and 10/21 events.
